About Huckleberry Hill
Huckleberry Hill is the result of years of work by Hillary Childs. Hillary has been making soap since 2000 and deodorants, lotions and balms since 2009. She officially started selling her products as Huckleberry Hill in 2014.
Hillary is a mother, adventurer, scientist, and farmer. She is passionate about sustainability and keeping our food and economic systems local as much as possible. She loves researching and experimenting with new product ideas.
Hillary has a passion for researching and learning new information about her craft. In addition to being a self-directed/lifelong learner, Hillary has a Bachelor of Science in Natural Resource Conservation in Forestry, UBC (1997), a Diploma in Outdoor Recreation Management, Capilano College (1999). She is also a Chartered Herbalist (Dominion Herbal College (2012)) and a Certified Soap Maker (CP/HP Basic, Handcrafted Soap and Cosmetics Guild (2015)).
Huckleberry Hill’s products are all produced on her family’s 11-acre farm in Otter Point, British Columbia. They are produced with the highest quality certified organic ingredients. In the cases where certified organic materials are not available, we research the material being used to ensure it keeps with our quality standards. Locally-grown herbs and botanicals are used when available. All our products are made in small batches to ensure quality and consistency.
HIllary is a member of the Handcrafted Soap and Cosmetics Guild and the Canadian Guild of Soapermakers, Chandlers and Cosmetic Crafters.
